- EUGOGO has developed a generic Case Record Form (CRF) for collection of trial data.
- A website (www.eugogo.org) was established in 2003 which includes the assessment protocols, CRFs, a colour atlas for clinical evaluation of soft tissue features of Graves' Orbitopathy and other relevant information.
- A validated disease-specific questionnaire has been translated into 7 languages.
- A feasibility study to assess the numbers of new patients that can be recruited by EUGOGO centres was published in 2003 (Prummel MF et al. Multi-centre study on the characteristics and treatment strategies of patients with Graves' orbitopathy: the first European Group on Graves' Orbitopathy experience. Eur J Endocrinol 2003;148:491-5). This study revealed that 152 new patients were recruited over 4 months, thus confirming the feasibility of multicentre studies within the EUGOGO framework.
- A descriptive study of the characteristics of 47 patients with dysthyroid optic neuropathy (DON) presenting to EUGOGO centres over a 12 to month period has been completed.
- The 1st EUGOGO Teaching Course on Graves' Orbitopathy has been held in Thessaloniki (Greece) in May 2005.
- The 2nd EUGOGO Teaching Course on Graves' Orbitopathy has recently been held in Pisa (Italy) on June 6-8, 2006.
- Two randomized controlled trials have been started and further trials are being considered.
- A study of patients who are submitted to surgical orbital decompression over the period of January 2006 until December 2006 is actually going on.
